Personal Statement

I have a broad background in hematology and blood transfusion, with specific research focus on anaemia, haemoglobinopathy, hemophilia and blood transfusion. I am the Principal Investigator/Co-Investigator of several funded ongoing or concluded research collaborative work on SCD, iron deficiency anaemia and haemophilia including my university-funded grant to study genetic polymorphism that effect Hb F levels and clinical phenotypes in SCD. I am also currently working on a sickle cell disease registry for patients with SCD in Lagos in collaboration with the Sickle Cell Foundation of Nigeria and a bleeding disorder registry with the World federation of hemophilia. I have acquired the necessary experience, expertise, leadership skills, motivation and laid the groundwork for more collaborative research work.
