Personal Statement

I am an early-stage translational researcher with a deep interest in advancing women’s reproductive health through experimental and mechanistic studies. My research has centered on understanding how pharmaceutical agents and plant-based compounds affect ovarian function, fertility, and hormonal regulation using well-established animal models. I am currently expanding into the study of emerging environmental threats such as microplastics and their potential role in endocrine and reproductive disorders, particularly polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). My growing interest in community and clinical research is driving the development of cohort-based and implementation-focused studies, with the goal of translating laboratory findings into population-level impact. Beyond research, I am actively involved in teaching and mentoring both undergraduate and postgraduate students, and also in contributing meaningfully to academic leadership through participation in curriculum development, staff mentorship, and faculty governance. My vision is to contribute to sustainable health outcomes in Africa through interdisciplinary research, academic mentorship, and collaborative partnerships that bridge the gap between bench science and community health interventions.
